• Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in Hawai ‘ i .
• Annually , an average of 855 men are diagnosed with invasive prostate cancer in Hawai ‘ i .
• An average of 125 men die of prostate cancer in Hawai ‘ i each year .
• Ninety-five percent of prostate cancers are diagnosed at age 55 years and older .
• Hawai ‘ i has among the lowest incidence of prostate cancer in the U . S . ( 95.6 per 100,000 ) compared to the U . S . overall ( 106.4 per 100,000 ) in 2014-2018 .
• Hawai ‘ i has the lowest rate of prostate cancer mortality in the country ( 14.8 per 100,000 ). This compares to 19.0 per 100,000 for the U . S . overall in 2014-2018 .
• Prostate cancer incidence was highest in males of Other race / ethnic groups .
• In 2014-2018 , 57 % of prostate cancer cases were diagnosed at early stages and 27 % at late stages ; 16 % of tumors were unstaged .
