Trends in Cancer Incidence and Mortality in Hawai‘ i
• Over the past decade( 2013 to 2022), overall cancer incidence remained relatively stable among both men and women with no significant change over time.
• Over the past decade( 2013 to 2022), overall cancer mortality significantly declined in males( 1.8 % per year) and remained unchanged in females.
• From 2013 to 2022, significant changes in incidence were observed for certain cancers:
• Among males and females, cancers of the colon & rectum increased in those under age 50 and decreased among individuals 50 and older.
• Among males, cancers of the small intes�ne and prostate increased while cancers of the liver & intrahepa�c bile duct, lung & bronchus, and leukemia( under age 50) decreased.
• Among females, there were increases in thyroid cancer( age 50 and older) and cancers of the fallopian tube and other genital organs. Cancers of the ovary and myeloma( 50 and older) decreased.
• From 2013 to 2022, significant changes in mortality were observed for certain cancers:

• Mortality for cancers of the lung & bronchus decreased among males and females.
• Among males, mortality for myeloma and cancers of the lung & bronchus, stomach, and colon & rectum cancer( age 50 and older) decreased.
• Among females, mortality increased for cancers of the uterus / endometrium and non-Hodgkin lymphoma( age 50 and older) and decreased for cancers of the brain & other nervous system cancer and stomach( age 50 and older).
