• Cancers of the colon & rectum are the 3rd most frequently diagnosed cancer among Hawai‘ i males and 4th most common among females. An average of 714 new cases( 399 males, 315 females) are diagnosed each year.
• Colon & rectum cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in Hawaiʻi with an average of 238 deaths( 134 males, 104 females) each year.
• Fi�y-four percent of colon & rectum cancers are diagnosed at age 65 years and older.
• Following steady decreases in overall colon & rectum cancer incidence and mortality among both males and females, in 2013-2022, declining trends are now only observed in individuals 50 and older.
• In 2013-2022, among male and females under age 50, the incidence of colon & rectum cancer significantly increased an average of 3.4 % per year.

• In 2018-2022, colon & rectum cancer incidence was higher in Hawai‘ i males( 44.5 per 100,000) compared to 41.5 per 100,000 in the U. S. overall. Mortality was lower in Hawai‘ i females( 9.4 per 100,000) compared to females in the U. S. overall( 10.7 per 100,000).
• In 2018-2022, 36 % of colon & rectum cancers were diagnosed at early stages and 57 % at advanced stages.
